About Us

Open Emotion is a non-profit organization that promotes openness of emotion.  We produce content to encourage thought and discussion about emotion.  We officially launched our first video on February 29, 2020, after one and a half years of planning and editing.  One hundred short videos will be released throughout 2020.  The participants we interviewed were free to answer as they chose and no interviews were scripted in any way.

In the future, we plan to provide courses to explore openness and expression of emotion.

Disclaimer: Open Emotion is not a self-help or mental health group, and is not facilitated by a mental health professional.

I am a father, brother, son, friend, and Air Force Veteran.

After living 38 years of poor mental hygiene, I have taken back my mental health in the last 2 years.  During that journey, I  learned the importance of feeling my emotions and allowing them to organically flow through my mind and soul.  It took too many years of stuffing things down and trying to “man up” and not show what I perceived to be weakness.  Today, I am stronger than ever.  I am flourishing at the top of my game in my 17 year technology career.  I am more mentally present for my two amazing daughters, family, and friends.  I have taken my darkest moments and turned them into a positive learning experience that I now routinely share with others.  This has allowed me to volunteer on boards for NH NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), as well as regularly speak about my journey with the intent of instilling hope in at least one person.

I’m proud to say that I have helped many so far and will continue to help many more. It is my mission, my duty to help others understand themselves and allow freeness with their emotions.  I am forever grateful to be in a position to help.

The tragic events of September 11th, 2001 completely changed my life. It led to my decision to become a Marine Corps Officer after graduating from Sacred Heart University.

One of my responsibilities in the Marines was as a writer.  I composed condolence letters on behalf of the entire Corps.  I began to suppress my emotions to accomplish my mission and sank into depression and the lowest point in my life.

I was medically retired from the Marines due to my injuries and moved back home with debilitating physical pain.  I also suffered horrifying emotional pain from survivor's remorse and sank further into depression.  Finally, I made the conscious decision to change my life by recommitting myself to my physical health.  I became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, yoga instructor, and Wim Hof Method Instructor.  Through this process, I realized how physical health impacts mental health and emotional well-being.  Since then, I have dedicated my life to teaching others how they can become the happiest, healthiest, and strongest versions of themselves: physically, mentally, and emotionally.
